Renters Rights Bill Set for Final Lords Debate Ahead of Summer Break

The Renters Rights Bill will have its final debate in the House of Lords on July 21, just before Parliament breaks for summer. This Third Reading gives the Lords one last chance to refine the Bill before it returns to the Commons.
Unlike in the Commons, the Lords can still suggest changes at this point. These are often focused on improving clarity and making sure the Bill works properly. Since the Lords have made amendments not seen in the Commons, the Bill will likely go through the usual ‘Ping Pong’ process between the two houses until everything is agreed.
With strong support across all parties and Labour’s clear majority, this stage should be fairly smooth. While there is a small chance the Bill could become law before the break, it is more likely to go through final approval in early September, just in time for Labour’s annual conference.
