Helena Lewis opened up Ealing's local therapy and wellbeing centre on route in March 2018 as a meeting place offering a wide range of therapies and activities designed to support mental, physical and social wellbeing. She says “I wanted to create an environment where looking after your mental health and wellbeing felt as natural as cleaning your teeth every day – and where mental health and related issues could be questioned, discussed and challenged. The aim of on route is not only to provide a holistic approach, but also to make it as affordable and accessible as possible. For this to happen, I have been talking to businesses who are interested in supporting our work – to help us provide a local, low-cost service for people.”
We at Rolfe East helped Helena to find the premises for on route, but it's grown to be a longer term relationship, as we can see the importance of her contribution to the local area, given that she is completely embedded in the Ealing community, and shares many common values with our own.
Rolfe East sponsor a service that on route provides to young people between the age of 18-24 who feel the absence of a male role model in their lives. This service is provided free to these young men and women, and we hope this will continue to make a real difference in the lives of these individuals.
At its heart, on route is a counselling, therapy and wellbeing centre as well as a friendly café and an active social hub. It offers a wide range of therapies from counselling, body therapies and activities like drama, gardening, yoga and mindfulness through to art exhibitions, talks and workshops. in whatever combination suits you, whether your life is going to plan or not.
